Past Winners

The 2011 ASB Young Sportswoman of the Year is Lydia Ko from Pinehurst School.

She placed first in both the New Zealand Womens Strokeplay and match play champs. At the New Zealand Women's open she was fourth overall and leading amateur. At the Australian Women's Open she was 11th overall and leading amateur. She was 4th equal at the British Open Amateur Champs. She represented New Zealand at the Astor Trophy where they placed 2nd overall. She has become the first recipient of the Mark H McCormack Medal for women, which is awarded to the ranked golfer in the Women's World Amateur golf ranking.

She placed first at the Auckland Secondary School strokeplay championships and is number 1 for her school team. She is the Under 17 and Under 19 New Zealand Secondary School Champion and overall U15 champ. She also placed second at the New Zealand U23, the New Zealand Stroke play and at the Australian Match Play champs.

The 2011 ASB Young Sportsman of the Year from is Joshua Hawkins from Sacred Heart College.

He is ranked number one in New Zealand in the U16 age group for the 100, 200m and 110m Hurdles. He is the U19 200m National Champion. He was first in the U18 200m and 2nd in the 110m hurdles at the Oceania and Australian Champs. He won Silver in the 110m hurdles at the World Youth Champs, he is only the second New Zealand Sprinter to get an IAAF world youth ranking, appearing on this list twice, which is a very rare achievement. He is ranked number 3 in the 110m hurdles and 19th in the 200m.
